TootArd – Laissez Passer

The album Laissez Passer by Golan Heights band TootArd is the top album in February 2018 at the Transglobal World Music Chart.

TootArd is an ensemble from the occupied Golan Heights who combine fuse Eastern Mediterranean-influenced desert blues, psychedelic-rock, reggae and classical Arabic modalities. Their second album Laissez Passer, is their debut international release.

Boubacar Traoré’s Dounia Tabolo at the Top of the Transglobal World Music Chart

Dounia Tabolo (Lusafrica) by Malian musician Boubacar Traoré is the number 1 album in December 2017 at the Transglobal World Music Chart.

The new recording combines Malian traditions with African American blues and southern roots music. American guests include Cedric Watson (fiddle and washboard); Corey Harris (guitar and vocals); and Leyla McCalla (cello and vocals).

Fonetiq Flowers, the new album by globe-trotting French band Lo’Jo, reached the number one place at the Transglobal World Music Chart in October 2017.

The album contains thirteen songs, recorded around the world, including places like Austin (Texas, USA), Lafayette (Louisiana, USA), Seoul (South Korea), Tbilisi (Georgia), Cotonou (Benin), Paris (France) and Bamako (Mali).

Danyèl Waro’s monmon at the Top of the July 2017 Transglobal World Music Chart

Monmon, the new recording by Reunion Island artist Danyèl Waro is the number 1 album in the July 2017 Transglobal World Music Chart.

Danyèl Waro plays traditional acoustic Maloya, the genre known as the blues of Reunion. He sings in the Creole language.

Maloya, for me, is first and foremost about the word,” he says. “I’m looking for the cadence, the image, the rhythm in the word. Maloya has put me in touch with Réunion, with its people, with our language.”

The album Targ by Tunisian act Bargou 08 has reached the top of the Transglobal World Music Chart in April 2017. The band combines Tunisian highland traditional music with electronica and rock.

Band members include Lassaed Bougalmi on gasba, zokra (traditional reed instruments); Imed Rezgui on bendir (frame drum); Nidhal Yahyaoui on vocals, wtar (lute); Sofyan Ben Youssef on synthesizer; and Benjamin Chaval on drums.
