Tondini – Tondini plays Mostar Sevdah Reunion – Disko 088 (Snail Records, 2025)
Electronic producer Tondini presents Disko 088, a collaborative, joyful and hip-shaking concept album built on the songs of Mostar Sevdah Reunion. Tondin produced it along woth with Dragi Šestić to celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary. As a consequence, the project reimagines classic Bosnian sevdah songs through an irresistible disco-infused electronic dance music lens.
The album expands on the success of three advance singles, “Omer Beže,” “Nema Ljepše Cure Od Malene Đule,” and “Srdo Moja,” each offering a sensational rhythmic reinterpretation of traditional material. Tondini preserves the emotional essence of the originals while introducing pulsating beats and dancefloor-ready sounds.
Šestić, known for his long-standing dedication to sevdah, had previously declined remix requests. His stance changed after discovering Tondini’s work, which he describes as “unpredictable, energetic, and magical.” Inspired by her unique sound design approach, he invited her to rework key tracks from Mostar Sevdah Reunion’s catalog. The result is a respectful yet forward-thinking tribute that creates captivating summer song-style recreations.
