The 31st edition of La Mar de Músicas will take place in Cartagena from 17 to 25 July 2026, with Ecuador as the guest country. The announcement came during the closing night of the 2025 festival, which focused on South Korea, following the performance by G5.
Cartagena’s mayor, Noelia Arroyo, stated that the choice highlights Ecuador’s artistic and cultural heritage, as well as the contributions of the Ecuadorian community in Spain, particularly in Cartagena. She emphasized the festival’s long-standing mission to promote cultural exchange, diversity, and dialogue between nations.
Ecuador’s ambassador to Spain, Wilma Andrade, described the invitation as an honor and noted that the 2026 program will present Ecuadorian music, cinema, literature, contemporary art, and gastronomy. She confirmed the embassy’s commitment to working with local authorities and organizers to ensure the event’s success.
La Mar de Músicas, one of Spain’s leading world music festivals, is organized by Cartagena City Council. It has been held annually for over three decades. Each edition features a guest country, making the city a summer hub for international cultural exchange.
