Jason Carter and Michael Cleveland Team up Again on “Let’s Sing Our Song”

Jason Carter and Michael Cleveland have rolled out a new single, “Let’s Sing Our Song,” featuring John Cowan. The track comes from the sessions for Carter & Cleveland, the duo’s self-titled 2025 album, which won Album of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards and later received a 2026 Grammy nomination.

Notably, “Let’s Sing Our Song” did not appear on the original album. Instead, the duo selected it from the same sessions as a later release. Written by Jerry Reed, the song centers on twin fiddles and adds Cowan’s vocals to the performance.

Carter said he first heard the song on a Jerry Reed record and considered it a favorite from the sessions. He also pointed to its Cajun-style twin fiddles and said it remains one of his favorite songs to play live.

Cleveland also cited Reed as a longtime influence and said he immediately supported recording the tune when Carter suggested it. He described the track as upbeat and said it consistently lifts his mood.

Carter is best known for his long run with the Del McCoury Band and the Travelin’ McCourys before launching the Jason Carter Band in 2025. Cleveland, a longtime bandleader and multiple IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year recipient, won a Grammy for Tall Fiddler in 2019 and received the National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellowship in 2022.
