Armenian Pianist Kariné Poghosyan Presents “Folk Themes”

Renowned Armenian-American pianist Kariné Poghosyan has released a new album titled “Folk Themes” (Navona/Parma Recordings, 2023).

The piano master selected a set of piano music grounded in folk traditions from five different cultures. The material includes pieces by composers Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (half British, half Sierra-Leonese), Edvard Grieg (Norwegian), Komitas (Armenian) and Franz Liszt (largely Hungarian).

Award-winning Armenian-American pianist Kariné Poghosyan made her orchestral debut at the age of 14. Poghosyan’s most recent performances include two sold-out concerts at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, including a CD release concert of her Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky recording on Centaur Records.
