Porch Perfect: Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ Harmonize on a Family Affair

Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ return with “My Darling My Dear,” a soulful new single from their forthcoming collaborative album, Room on the Porch, out May 23 via Concord Records. Their first joint release since 2017’s GRAMMY-winning TajMo, the track channels themes of love, family, and unity.

Significantly, the song marks a multigenerational collaboration: both artists invited their sons, Ahmen Mahal and K. Roosevelt, to co-write alongside Canadian songwriter Colin Linden, known for work with Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris.

“It was like a party every day,” said Keb’ Mo’, reflecting on the lively, family-filled sessions.

The new single follows two earlier releases from the album: the laid-back title track, featuring Ruby Amanfu, and the gritty blues number “Junkyard Dog.” Room on the Porch includes more original co-written material than any previous joint effort by the duo and was entirely co-produced by the artists themselves.

Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ will tour in support of the album, beginning May 23 with a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, part of the venue’s centennial celebration, joined by Amanfu. Their first headlining show follows on May 28 at New York’s Town Hall.
