Paul Goodman – Yet (Paul Goodman Music, 2019)

Multi-instrumentalist, composer and global traveler Paul Goodman has recorded an album of mesmerizing instrumental centered on the Greek lyra, a bowed instrument. Born in Ireland, Goodman was attracted to the Labyrinth Music workshops in Crete. This gathering of musicians has become a nursery for rising talent in the area of eastern Mediterranean music.

Yet is rooted in Greek and Turkish traditions. It is a bewitching collection of instrumental pieces featuring a wide-range of musical instruments from Greece, Turkey and beyond. It a feast of stringed instruments supported by entrancing percussion and wind instruments.

Goodman is currently based in Athens. He recorded the album Crete and Athens.  

The lineup on Yet includes Paul Goodman on lyra, baglama saz, çogur saz, bassaz, dede saz, Bulgari; Manolia Kokoloyianni on lyra; Alexis Nonis on bendir, darbuka, cajon, daff, udu, daire, rek, athanatos, cymbals, bells; Thanos Bikos on tenor recorder and gaida.
