Sutartronica’s electrified bridge between Lithuania’s past and future

Sutartronica is a Lithuanian band that provides an electrified bridge between past and future. Once known as Elektroninės Sutartinės, the ensemble has carved a niche by transforming ancient song into electronica pulse and voltage.

Behind the project lies the synergy between producer and musician Victor Diawara and folklore researcher-vocalist Laurita Peleniūtė. Onstage, they are joined by a force of collaborators, singers Viltė Ambrazaitytė and Eglė Jačauskienė, bassist and keyboardist Boris Kulenovic, and drummer Vytis Vainilaitis.

Their compass points to sutartinės, a centuries-old form of Lithuanian polyphonic singing where interwoven harmonies form a ritualistic dialogue. Sutartronica samples these traditions and reanimate them. Synths and sequencers lock hands with voices that echo the forests and fields of Lithuania, creating a sound that feels both ancestral and futuristic, like folklore illuminated by neon light.

The group’s 2021 debut, Elektroninės Sutartinės, was praised for its deft balance of reverence and reinvention. Sutartronica immersed themselves in tradition, creating something distinctly Lithuanian yet universally appealing.
