The 64th Cante de las Minas Festival has announced its semifinalists, featuring top contenders across flamenco singing, guitar, dance, and instrumental performance. The jury, Eduardo Guerrero, Juan Parrilla, Kyoko Shikaze, José Manuel Gamboa, and Paco Paredes, selected the finalists following deliberations at La Unión’s historic Antiguo Mercado Público.
Twelve singers will compete in the cante category, with seven vying for the coveted Lámpara Minera:
- Gregorio Moya (Ciudad Real) – minera, cartagenera, malagueña, mariana
- Andreles Amador (Almería) – fandangos, seguiriya
- Bernardo Miranda (Córdoba) – minera, cartagenera, soleá, caracoles
- José del Calli (Córdoba) – minera, levantica, soleá, tientos
- Francisco Heredia (Jaén) – minera, taranta, granaína, soleá
- Iván Chaskío (Alicante) – minera, cartagenera, seguiriya, alegrías
- Rosi Campos (Málaga) – levantica, malagueña
Five additional vocalists—Raquel Salas, Anabel de Vico, El Perrito, Belén Vega, and Lidia Rodríguez—will also perform in the semifinals.
In the guitar competition for the Bordón Minero, the four semifinalists are:
- Jesús Carbonell (Navarra)
- Mercedes Luján (Murcia)
- Samuel de Encarni (Cádiz)
- Toni Abellán (Barcelona)
For the Desplante dance award, four artists will compete: Ofelia Márquez, Salomé Ramírez, José María Viñas (all from Cádiz), and Jenifer Ruiz (Almería).
Finally, the Filón for instrumental performance will feature three instruments. Flutist Ostalinda (Extremadura) and cellist Raúl Herrera (Madrid) face strong competition from three pianists: Lorenzo Moya (Ciudad Real), José Carlos Esteban-Hanza (Almería), and Manuel Moreno (Huelva).
Performance order and dates for the semifinals, scheduled from August 6 to 8, will be announced shortly. The final takes place on August 9.
