Minyo Crusaders – Live At Le Guess Who? (Mais Um, 2021)
Celebrated Japanese band Minyo Crusaders recorded “Live At Le Guess Who?” in 2019 at a popular Dutch festival called Le Guess Who? The album features pieces from their excellent debut album “Echoes Of Japan “and their equally great 2020 EP “Minyo Cumbiero“.
Minyo Crusaders are known for their wild mix of ancient Japanese folk (min’yō) and world music melodies and rhythms from various regions, including Colombian cumbia, Ethiopian jazz, Thai pop, Afro funk and Jamaican reggae. The group is led by magnetic guitarist Katsumi Tanaka.
Lineup: Freddie Tsukamoto on lead vocals; Meg on lead vocals; Katsumi Tanaka on guitar; Shoji Ishiguro on bass; Moe on keyboards; Sono on timbales; Mutsumi ‘Muupy’ Kobayashi on bongos; Kazuki Hashimoto on trumpet; Koichiro Osawa on saxophone; and Irochi on congas.
