Mick Abrahams – Seasons – The Recordings 1971-1972 (Esoteric, 2026)
Seasons – The Recordings 1971–1972 is a 2CD remastered collection that combines Mick Abrahams’ first two solo albums, Mick Abrahams (1971) and At Last (1972), originally released by Chrysalis Records.
Abrahams co-founded Jethro Tull and left after the debut LP, This Was. He then formed Blodwyn Pig, which released two hit albums in 1969 and 1970. He moved to solo work shortly afterward.
His 1971 self-titled album features Bob Sargeant (organ, piano, vocals), Walt Monaghan (bass, vocals), and Ritchie Dharma (drums), who became known as The Mick Abrahams Band. The record leans toward a more progressive blues-rock approach, with extended tracks and prominent organ.
The follow-up, At Last, arrived in 1972 and added former Blodwyn Pig saxophone and woodwind player Jack Lancaster. The songs run shorter, towards straightforward blues-rock and classic rock. The group split soon after the album’s release.
The set also includes a booklet with a new essay.
