Tang Liangxing – High Mountain Flowing Water (Shanachie, 1993)

Chinese virtuoso pipa player Tang Liangxing released High Mountain Flowing Water back in 1993. He delivered an exquisite performance of traditional material as well as new pieces. The pipa is an ancient pear-shaped lute widely used in Chinese music.

Tang Liangxing was born in Shanghai, China in 1948 and emigrated to the United States in 1986. In 1993 he was given a National Endowment of the Arts National Heritage Fellow.
