Cyro Baptista

Cyro Baptiste Ciari, better known as Cyro Baptista, was born on December 23, 1950 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He’s the creator of the 10-piece percussion ensemble Beat The Donkey.

Cyro emerged as one of the premier percussionists in the United States. He traveled the world on Paul Simon`s “Rhythm of the Saints” tour, performed and recorded with everyone from David Byrne, Robert Palmer, Melissa Etheridge, John Zorn, James Taylor, Daniel Barenboin, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Wilton Marsalis, Medesky Martin & Wood and Sting.

His collective Beat the Donkey is a mix of Brazilian percussion, performance art, and chaos.
