Istanbulive VI at The Global Beat Festival in New York

Istanbul_Live_2014Istanbulive returns to New York City on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. The showcase presents the best of Turkish music this side of the Bosporus. Istanbulive VI will present the rich tapestry of Turkish traditions and talent to Brookfield Place Winter Garden in Lower Manhattan as part of The Global Beat Festival.

Mehmet Dede, co-producer of Istanbulive provides details, “Istanbul is nestled in the cradle of civilization where East meets West. By juxtaposing the Istanbulive showcase at the heart of Manhattan, we celebrate the diversity of New York City with the extraordinary virtuosity found in modern Turkish music today.”

Istanbulive co-producer Serdar Ilhan adds, “For this year’s showcase we are honored to present the long awaited return of Mercan Dede and Istanbul Tribe presenting his fusion of the ancient and modern sounds of Asia Minor. Along with chamber band The Secret Trio, expect a night of spellbinding beauty and soulfulness.”
