The Community of Madrid will host the 20th edition of Suma Flamenca from October 14 to November 2, 2025. Under the artistic direction of Antonio Benamargo, now in his sixth consecutive year, the festival centers on the theme Tradition & Vanguard, highlighting the creative tension that has long defined flamenco.

This year’s program features 46 flamenco performances, including 17 world premieres and 18 Madrid premieres. Performances will take place in prominent venues such as Teatros del Canal, Teatro de la Abadía, Ateneo de Madrid, Teatro Real Coliseo Carlos III in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Real Monasterio de El Paular in Rascafría, Centro Comarcal de Humanidades in La Cabrera, and the Pilar Miró and Paco Rabal Cultural Centers in Vallecas.

Leading up to the main festival, the Ateneo de Madrid will host Duende, Tradición y Vanguardia, a photography exhibition by Ana Torralva, on view from October 1 to 29. Additionally, a roundtable moderated by Pedro Calvo and three academic talks will take place in the Sala Anselma from October 1 to 4, exploring the festival’s central theme. Each session will conclude with a live performance.

As a prelude to the main event, Suma Flamenca Joven will return for its fifth edition from September 25 to 28 at the Sala Verde of Teatros del Canal. This showcase focuses on flamenco artists under 30 across dance, guitar, and singing. Four performances will feature emerging talents from across Spain, including Cádiz, Sevilla, Málaga, Granada, Badajoz, Valladolid, and Tarragona, as well as Serbia.

More details will be available in the next weeks.
