Cierzo Lento – A Modern Take on Aragonese Tradition

Idoipe – Cierzo Lento (self release, 2021)

Cierzo Lento was the debut full-length album by Spanish musician Idoipe. The self-produced LP combines electronica with traditional Aragonese music across eight tracks. Idoipe contributes vocals, bandurria (a plucked Spanish string instrument), recorder, and traditional percussion, which form the foundation of his music. In addition, he adds electronic music sounds, weaving acoustic and electronic dance music to develop a new form of folk music.

The finely crafted album pays tribute to Aragonese folklore, masterfully weaving in traditional songs and cultural references. Its title refers to the region’s iconic wind.

Born on Christmas Eve in the early 1990s, Idoipe was immersed in music from childhood. He studied instruments such as accordion, piano, and guitar. In 2010, he began performing as a DJ under the alias Oddysseyy, becoming a fixture in the Aragonese festival circuit. He has also collaborated on projects like MPOLE and Matafuego Club. Prior to Cierzo Lento, Idoipe released several singles that reinterpreted regional folk traditions through an electronic lens.
