Cuban artists will demonstrate their talent at the South By Southwest showcase with performances by Telmary; Yissy & Banda Ancha, Dayme Arocena, X Alfonso and Kelvis Ochoa. The initiative, called Sounds from Cuba, is organized by Roads & Kingdoms and Fábrica de Arte Cubano (FAC), with the collaboration of the General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE). The goal is to show the different musical trends in Cuban music today.
The rhythms of jazz and its different variants will be the protagonists of this day in Austin. Havana-based Telmary Diaz will present her unique fusion of jazz, hip hop and Afro-Cuban rhythms, a personal sound that has made her one of the top stars of music in her country.
The enveloping and powerful voice Dayme Arocena and the rhythms of renowned drummer Yissy Garcia and his group Banda Ancha accompany you in this edition of South By Southwest.
The roster of Sounds from Cuba is completed with a performancve by X Alfonso, winner of a Goya award (the highest honor in the Spanish movie industry) for Best Original Score for his work in Havana Blues, and singer Kelvis Ochoa, an idol among youth in the Caribbean island by mixing tradition and modernity that fills his repertoire. They are all part of this unique concert, as it is the first time South by Southwest dedicates an entire day to the Cuban musicians who live on the island.
