Celtic Crossfade: Cushla Fuses Myth and Machine on Tech Duinn

Cushla – Tech Duinn (Foehn Records, 2025)

Cushla’s debut album Tech Duinn expands on the groundbreaking sound introduced in their singles “Ar Casa” and “The Mountain,” both noted for skillfully mixing traditional Irish folk with contemporary electronic production.

Named after the Celtic otherworld, Tech Duinn is an enthralling, beautifully crafted recording that explores themes of mythology, mortality, and memory. The project centers on the collaboration between gifted, captivating Irish sean-nós vocalist Nell Ní Chróinín; Spanish producer Marc Fernández (Akkan, Ocellot); and composer Leo Pearson. Together, they craft a deeply mesmerizing Celtic folktronica sound that balances ancestral vocal traditions with forward-thinking sound design.

Following appearances at Beyond the Pale and Live Europe showcases, Cushla will perform at Primavera Sound and other major festivals in 2025, introducing marking their sound to the electronic dance music and world music scenes.
