Son Of A Tribe Reveals Rising World Music Star Edgar Muzah

Edgar Muzah – Son Of A Tribe: Royalty Edition (Fresh for 2023)

Edgar Muzah, a multi-talented artist from South Africa, is a musician, bass virtuoso, accomplished composer, masterful arranger, prolific songwriter, and a skilled music producer. His multifaceted music is an exquisite reflection of his African roots, resulting in a distinctive and captivating genre he dubs “music of the world” or, simply, world music.

Drawing inspiration from musical luminaries who paved the way before him, Muzah seamlessly weaves a wide range of rhythms and sounds from Africa and beyond into his compositions, creating a joyously energetic musical mix that is uniquely his own. Through the skillful use of irresistible grooves using a wide range of drums and marimbas as well as intricate guitar melodies together with masterful bass lines, traditional South African choruses and soulful lead vocals, the double set Son Of A Tribe: Royalty Edition is pure delight. Not to mention that Muzah also invited an impressive list of highly talented musical guests that make this debut album truly outstanding. Additionally, Muzah also uses fascinating and elegant spoken word discreetly a handful of times.

Muzah’s music is a heartfelt expression of his life journey, a canvas upon which he paints the vivid landscapes of his dreams. His profound love for Africa and its rich musical heritage is evident as he uses his artistry to shed light on African issues and provide a glimpse into the Africa he envisions.

The Son Of A Tribe: Royalty Edition, his debut solo album, has earned him two nominations at prestigious music awards ceremonies: the South African Music Awards (SAMA) and the Afrikan Music Magazine Awards (Afrimma) in 2022.

Throughout his career, Edgar has collaborated with some of South Africa and Africa’s finest musicians, both as a touring bassist and a music producer. His roster of collaborators includes Ringo Madlingozi, Phila Madlingozi, Nathi Mankayi, Amanda Black, Blaq Diamond, Nomcebo Zikode, Ami Faku, Bye Beneco, Willis Wataffi Afirika, MXO, Sliq Angel, ROOTS 2000, Ntsika Ngxanga, and Putuma Tiso, among others. This synergy led to the creation of Edgar Muzah & Friends, a project that brings together many of the artists he has worked with, producing and composing music for them. The culmination of this effort was his victory in the ESP Afrika Young Legends Competition in 2018, which granted him the opportunity to perform at the 20th Cape Town International Jazz Festival in March 2019.

Under the guidance of his management at REkre8, Edgar Muzah secured a publishing deal with Gallo Music Publishing, one of Africa’s premier publishing companies. Moreover, he signed a distribution agreement for his music with Content Connect Africa, the continent’s largest digital music distribution aggregator.

Further solidifying his position in the music industry, Edgar serves as a brand ambassador for Cort Guitars, a prominent guitar manufacturer headquartered in South Korea with branches in Indonesia and China. Additionally, he represents Fusion Bags, a respected gig bag manufacturer based in England.

Driven by an unwavering commitment to elevate his performances, Edgar continually seeks opportunities to take “Music of the World” to international audiences through touring and collaborations with agencies and artists from around the globe. Notably, he appeared at Amandla Music for Tolerance, Respect, and Peace, as well as Fest Der Kulturen in Osnabrück, Germany, as part of these international collaborations.
