Profound and Transfixing Double Set from Opium Moon

Opium Moon – Night + Day (Starry Void, 2021)

Night + Day is the new, fascinating double album from world fusion band Opium Moon. Each disc represents a different facet of the band. Night includes the band’s slow tempo transfixing musical pieces while Day presents a livelier side, encouraging listeners to dance.

Opium Moon skillfully interweaves global percussion, including hypnotic frame drums; creative electric bass; delightful santoor; and soaring, masterful violin, inspired by Sufi poetry, Indian and Middle Eastern music, Gnawa rhythms, Hebraic folk and jazz.

Bassist Itai Disraeli says about Night + Day: “We love to be deep and spiritual, and we love to dance and be physical — but either way it is inspired by our complete presence and love in action. This work represents the best of us.”

The lineup includes Lily Haydn on violin and vocals; Hamid Saeidi on santoor and vocals; Itai Disraeli on bass and vocals; and MB Gordy on percussion and vocals.
