Exotic Impressions of Saqqara

Esbe – Saqqara (New Cat Music, 2020)

Saqqara is the fifth studio album from multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer Esbe.  The artist from London (UK), has put together a great set of musical pieces inspired by her trips taken before global travel restrictions. Esbe spent time in Saqqara (also known as Sakkara), the oldest necropolis pyramid in Egypt. The album is inspired by the art and artifacts Esbe observed in Egypt.

Esbe has her own studio in London and she composed and produced all the music on the album. Saqqara features her captivating classically-trained and Middle-Eastern inspired vocals, Arabic strings accompanied by electronic layers and beats, sound effects and trance-like percussion.  Esbe’s style has connections to the sound of pioneering band Dead Can Dance.
