Composer, producer, researcher and ethnomusicologist Pekko Käppi was born in 1976. He is a jouhikko player from Tampere and a part-time instructor at the Sibelius Academy. He also has a band called K:H:H:L.

Pekko Käppi’s style combines folk, rock and blues.

In 2019, Pekko Käppi released the solo album Finnish Folk Songs, Vol. 1 (Helmi Levyt), a compilation of traditional Finnish songs. The album was recorded in the living room of Tommi Laine, the guitarist of his band K:H:H:L. The repertoire was drawn from his 20 years of career, and the songs talk about horses, love and fortune tellers, among other things.
