Very little Cuban timba has made it to the United states in recent years. The Ahi Nama label now brings us one of the best performers in the genre. Haciendo Historia is the first major U.S. release by a new Cuban dance band in 10 years. Alexander Abreu’s Habana d Primera is a dazzling band that includes some of the finest studio musicians in Cuba who played with the top bands during the dance music wave of the 1990’s.

Habana d Primera is led by trumpet player Alexander Abreu. For many years, he has performed with some of the leading salsa and timba musicians in Cuba. Habana d Primera is one of the most popular dance bands in Cuba today with the highest audience draws in the island. The musical genres in Haciendo Historia include passionate straight-up salsa, fiery timba, seductive son, pilon, Cubanized funk and jazz.

Haciendo Historia introduces a new timba powerhouse to fans of Cuban dance music.
