The 2025 Lowell Folk Festival has unveiled the first wave of performers, set to appear from July 25–27 in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts. As one of the United States’ longest-running free folk festivals, the event continues its tradition of presenting world music traditions across four outdoor stages.
Now approaching its 40th year, the festival features a diverse lineup spanning Cajun, Québécois, Appalachian, flamenco, Punjabi brass, and Irish music. Artists confirmed for the 2025 edition include:
– BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, celebrating 50 years of Cajun music, returns after previous appearances in 1989 and 1996.
– Cécilia, a trio from Eastern Canada, brings energetic interpretations of Québécois and Celtic folk.
– Crooked Road Revival highlights bluegrass, old-time, and gospel traditions from Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail.
– Lil’ Ed & the Blues Imperials, known for their “house-rockin’” Chicago blues, add electric energy to the lineup.
– LOS RICOS featuring Sonia & Ismael offer powerful flamenco performances steeped in tradition and emotion.
– Red Baraat fuses Punjabi rhythms with jazz, funk, and hip hop.
– Solas, formed after a debut at the 1994 festival, reunites for its 30th anniversary tour with original members and new collaborators.
– Yeison Landero, grandson of Colombian cumbia legend Andrés Landero, continues the family legacy with a modern take on the genre.
In addition to music, the festival features an international food court run by local nonprofits, as well as the Experience Lowell Marketplace, presented in partnership with Mosaic Lowell. This area highlights regional artisans, cultural organizations, and community groups.
Further artist announcements and event details will follow in the coming weeks.
