C.J. Lewandowski and Del McCoury, joined by Ronnie McCoury, have released a new version of the Osborne Brothers and Red Allen’s 1957 classic “She’s No Angel.” Out now via Turnberry Records, the single marks the fourth release from the forthcoming tribute album Keep On Keepin’ On by Bobby Osborne, C.J. Lewandowski & Friends, due August 22, 2025.
This recording reimagines a bluegrass staple. It also represents a turning point for Lewandowski. Initially recorded with Bobby Osborne before his passing, the project was nearly abandoned, until an impromptu backstage jam at the 2023 IBMA Awards reignited Lewandowski’s commitment. There, Del, Ronnie, and Rob McCoury joined Bobby Osborne Jr. in playing Osborne Brothers songs. When Del began singing “She’s No Angel,” Lewandowski joined in. That moment led to Del’s involvement and gave the project new life.
Produced by Lewandowski, the track features Del McCoury (vocals, guitar), Ronnie McCoury (mandolin), Bobby Osborne Jr. (vocals, bass), Wynn Osborne (banjo), Aynsley Porchak (fiddles), and Lewandowski himself on vocals.
Lewandowski, a GRAMMY-nominated mandolinist and founder of The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, was recently featured in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s 2024 American Currents: State of the Music exhibition, alongside artifacts from his mentor Bobby Osborne.
