Mwezi Waq – Deaf and Dumb Blues (Buda Musique, 2022)

Mwezi Waq’s album “Deaf and Dumb Blues” (Buda Musique, 2022) features a six-member band playing a repertoire of both new and revisited songs from the Comoros. Their music reflects the struggle against oppression and colonization, giving voice to the marginalized and forgotten. The album contains fourteen tracks, including seven covers of old hits that reject submission and apathy.

Mwezi Waq skillfully combine Comorian traditions with chamber music, modern western instrumentation, blues, and African world music elements.
