Mahala – Californeasca (Mahala, 2020)

Californeasca — Lautareasca Music from San Francisco is the title of a musical collective based in northern California caled Mahala. The group brought together some of the finest musicians from the local San Francisco Bay Area Balkan music scene.

Californeasca includes lively traditional and original music in the traditional and Lautari Romanian and Moldovan style. The album includes Romanian singer Ionela Guzic as a special guest.

Lineup: Andrew Cohen on accordion; Annie Hendrix on violin; Balder ten Cate on cimbalom, pan flute; Matthew Stein on violin, viola; and Travis Hendrix on bass, ocarina.
