Seville will host a citywide celebration of flamenco during the 2026 Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, which will also mark a century since the Ópera Flamenca era helped establish flamenco as a major performing art.
The program will feature 72 performances, 52 new productions, 22 world premieres, 24 one-night-only events and six exclusive matinées at 11 venues.
Before the official opening, the Maestranza Bullring will present the gala El mundo por montera. The event will bring together José Mercé, José de la Tomasa, Martirio, the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet under the direction of Patricia Guerrero, Arcángel, La Tremendita, El Perrete, Ángeles Toledano and Manuel de la Tomasa.
Meanwhile, Teatro Alameda will again focus on productions that seek to expand flamenco’s audience and introduce different stage formats. Its program will include performances for families and younger audiences, alongside works that explore new approaches to presenting the art form.
The 2026 edition will also restore more intimate performance formats. In particular, Hotel Triana will host a series of exclusive matinées that place audiences in proximity to the artists.
According to the festival’s programming concept, these limited performances aim to create encounters specific to Seville while emphasizing direct contact between performers and audiences.
