Piper Brìghde Chaimbeul was born in Sleat on the Isle of Skye, Scotland in 1998. She is a native Gaelic speaker and came up with a distinct style of arranging music for Scottish small pipes. Her style is influenced by various piping traditions including Cape Breton, Eastern Europe and Ireland.
Brìghde Chaimbeul won the 2016 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk award and the 2019 BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award.
Her debut album was ‘The Reeling’, released in 2019 and presented at the prestigious Celtic Connections festival. ‘The Reeling’ featured acclaimed fiddler Aidan O’Rourke from contemporary folk act Lau, Radie Peat from Irish band Lankum on concertina, and 82-year-old singer and piper Rona Lightfoot.
Throughout her career, Brìghde Chaimbeul has collaborated with well-known artists including Ross Ainslie, John McSherry, Paul Meehan, Martin Green, Carlos Núñez and Allan MacDonald.
