Subhra Guha

Subhra Guha is one of the leading female singers in Indian music. She is an exponent of the Agra Gharana (School) and has successfully carved a niche of her own in what is traditionally a male-dominated genre.

She has a voice of astonishing luminosity and power, capable of soaring effortlessly from one octave to the next. She performs a classical style known as khayal, but has also received training in thumri, dadra and chaiti, giving her a wide array of musical options and a devoted following. Subhra not only possesses a magnificent voice – she also has one of the world’s largest and most exhaustive collections of rare ragas and compositions.

She has had numerous international tours, and has a number of recordings to her credit; her CD’s have been released in the U.S. by India Archive Music, AIM Records, and Biswas Records.
