The Captivating Stories, Tunes and Imaginations of Teyr

Teyr – Far From The Tree (Sleight of Hand Records, 2016)

Teyr has become of the finest groups in London contemporary folk music scene. The trio came out of a jam session held on Sundays on Holloway Road since 2012. That session evolved into a trio called Teyr. Their album Far From The Tree contains traditional material drawn from English, Scottish and Irish traditions as well as well as original material composed by Teyr members.

Although Far From The Tree contains some vocals, Teyr’s music is characterized by the delightful and engaging interaction between the three musicians’ musical instruments: fiddle, uilleann pipes, guitar, low whistle and accordion.

The songs and tunes on Far From The Tree are masterfully arranged, featuring superb interplay, captivating solos with strong Irish influences and mesmerizing improvisations.

Teyr includes James Gavin on guitar, fiddle, and vocals; Dominic Henderson on uilleann pipes, whistles, and vocals; and Tommie Black-Roff on accordion and vocals.

The physical CD contains a booklet with song descriptions and lyrics.
