Valencia flute player Carlos Ferrer Peralta, known professionally as Karlos Nao, won the Filón at the 65th Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas in La Unión, Murcia, Spain.
The Filón recognizes the competition’s top flamenco instrumentalist and carries a €6,000 prize.
Karlos Nao took first place, while fellow flute player María Antonia Suárez Montaño, known as Ostalinda Suárez and from Zafra, finished second. Suárez received €2,000.
The Filón forms part of the festival’s principal competitive honors alongside awards for flamenco singing, dance and guitar.
