Ceccoli & Risso Intertwine Guitar and Percussion in Echoes of a Drum

Ceccoli & Risso – Ecos de un Tambor (2024)

Guitarist Claudio Ceccoli and percussionist Mariano Risso are musicians from different generations, but they share a geographical and musical connection. Both are from Pergamino, in the northwest of Buenos Aires province, and follow the same artistic direction. Their collaboration began informally in 2014, which led to the album Tierra sin nombre (2016), recorded thanks to a grant from Instituto Nacional de la Música (INAMU).

After spending time on solo ventures, the duo came back together in 2024 to drop their second album, Ecos de un Tambor (echoes of a drum). It sticks to their roots, delivering a flavorful, sparkling and captivating collection of instrumental tracks that highlight their undeniable skill. They mix folkloric sounds and Rio de la Plata influences with improvisation, all grounded in rich, diverse and seductive grooves. The spotlight lands on Ceccoli’s striking mastery of the eight-string guitar, while Risso brings an expansive array of global percussion into play, driving the heartbeat of the album.

The eight compositions explore themes of human connection, cultural identity, reflection, and taking life slowly.
