Kieran O’Hare is a renowned performer of Irish traditional music, specializing in the uilleann pipes, concert flute, and tin whistle. In 1994, he became the first American-born musician to be invited to perform at the prestigious ‘Ace and Deuce of Piping’ concert in Ireland’s National Concert Hall. His career includes performances across North and South America, Japan, China, and Europe. O’Hare has collaborated with notable artists such as Mick Moloney, Bonnie Raitt, The Greenfields of America, Jerry Holland, and Josh Groban, among others.
O’Hare has also made significant contributions to stage productions, working as a session musician and music designer. His film and Broadway credits include Road to Perdition and The Pirate Queen. In 2007-8, he was a featured performer on the PBS special Celtic Origins with the Irish choral group ANÚNA. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2010 as a soloist with the New York Pops Orchestra, and has toured extensively as the musical director of Celtic Legends.
In addition to his performance career, O’Hare serves on the Board of Directors for Na Píobairí Uilleann, an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting uilleann piping worldwide.
Kieran performs with the trio Open the Door for Three, along with Liz Knowles and Pat Broaders. Their fourth album together, A Prosperous Gale, was released in 2024.
