Sonraíz Announces Artists for Its Most Cordobese and Intercultural Edition

After selling 70% of available passes in just two weeks, Sonraíz: Cultura de Origen, the festival that brings together the forefront of traditional music, has announced the artists performing on September 13 and 14 in Carcabuey, Córdoba. Tickets for each stage and day are now available.

María José Llergo headlines this edition, emphasizing local flavors with an exclusive tasting of olive oils from DOP Priego de Córdoba included in the festival pass. This year’s Sonraíz is also the most international, featuring artists from four continents, symbolizing a call for peace and justice with performers from Ukraine, Palestine, Mozambique, Portugal, Argentina, and Mexico.

The festival organizers have revealed the full lineup, which highlights innovative forms of flamenco alongside diverse folk traditions across three stages in Carcabuey.

All projects are led by women who modernize and transform traditional music, ensuring its survival and relevance for new generations. In addition to María José Llergo, the lineup includes Nita, known for her DJ sets and as half of Fuel Fandango; Rocío Márquez & Bronquio, an acclaimed electronic flamenco project; and Lorena Álvarez, a prominent folk singer-songwriter from Asturias, collaborating with Palestinian singer Miriam Toukam on a special production for the festival.

Mexican talent Pahua, a leading voice in new Latin folklore, will perform alongside Selma Uamusse and the trio Los 300, bringing Mozambican afrobeat.

Blanca la Almendrita will present avant-garde flamenco, and the Portuguese duo Ohxala will deliver electrifying sounds.

Debuting in Spain are Kaleema from Argentina with futuristic Andean music and Ganna from Ukraine with experimental electro-folk.

The festival’s poster was designed by graphic artist Rebeca Losada, known for her work with Rozalen and Xoel López.

Carcabuey, located in the heart of the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park in Córdoba, hosts this celebration of cultural origins, featuring traditional music, visual arts inspired by popular crafts, gastronomy, nature, and historical heritage. The festival is supported by the Carcabuey City Council, the Provincial Council of Córdoba, the Subbética Rural Development Group, the DOP Priego de Córdoba Regulatory Council, and artists Clara Gómez and Almudena Castillejo from the Algazara collective, who will present the “Soy Mi Propia Musa” exhibition at the Carcabuey museum. The Federation of Rural Women’s Associations will also participate with various activities to be announced.
