Artist Profiles: María José Llergo

Flamenco singer María José Llergo was born in Córdoba, Spain in 1994. She dazzles audiences by taking tradition to unexplored paths. Her voice is full of nuances. She has deep musical knowledge and an experimental and avant-garde attitude as her tools.

María José Llergo is passionate about her southern Spanish and flamenco roots.  

Her first album was Sanación in which she sings about love, nonconformity, struggle, revolution, and other topics.

In 2020, María José Llergo received the First Paco Martín Award for rising talent in global music (world music). The jury rewarded her ability to incorporate tradition and hybridization, opening new paths to flamenco song, as well as her talent as a performer and songwriter, widely demonstrated in her debut album.

In 2023, she released Ultrabelleza, an album where she intertwined R&B influences and electronic grooves with flamenco.
