The Henry Girls – A Time To Grow (2024)
Superb Irish folk trio The Henry Girls is set to release their new album A Time To Grow on January 26th, 2024. The band includes three exceptionally gifted sisters, Karen, Lorna, and Joleen McLaughlin. Together, they weave enchanting harmonies, beautiful instrumental interplay and altogether alluring songs.
A Time To Grow includes a collaboration with singer Ríoghnach Connolly, the current BBC Folk Singer Of The Year. Ahead of the new album, The Henry Girls and Ríoghnach Connolly released an engaging single, “Not Your Fight.” This composition was born from a writing collaboration during Rioghnach’s time as Artist in Residence at The Nerve Centre, Derry at the invitation of Head of Music, Marty McGill.
“Not Your Fight” is a moving message for all those who find themselves helplessly witnessing a world torn apart by ceaseless conflict and violence. The single serves as a reminder of the shared human experience and our capacity for compassion and understanding in a world too often marked by discord.
The upcoming album highlights The Henry Girls’ musical evolution and their ability to create a finely crafted set of songs. The sisters skillfully combine delightful contemporary Irish folk music with exquisite Americana-style vocal harmonies to deliver a musical experience that is emotionally profound.
“This album is a reflection of our growth as musicians and our desire to create music that inspires and connects with people on a deeply emotional level,” says Karen.
This album was partly funded by the Arts Council of Ireland’s Music Industry Stimulus Package, which is managed by First Music Contact.
Malin artist Tim Stampton created the album cover design.
