Exploring the Versatility and Rich Musical Legacy of The Niazi Brothers

For almost four decades, the Niazi Brothers have been at the forefront of Pakistan’s musical landscape, performing professionally since 1985. The brothers, Javed and Babar Niazi, are the sons of the renowned folk artist Tufail Niazi and are based in Islamabad, although originally from Lahore. Their vast repertoire includes Folk and Sufi singing, in addition to ghazal singing, making them amongst the most versatile musicians in Pakistan.

Honored with the esteemed Pride of Performance Award from the government of Pakistan, the Niazi Brothers have earned global recognition, representing Pakistan at various festivals around the world. Their profound and captivating music has garnered widespread acclaim and admiration, earning them a place amongst the country’s most celebrated artists.

The “Rivayat” album, a noteworthy music series produced by the illustrious guitarist Mekaal Hasan, features the Niazi Brothers. The series has been widely hailed for its ability to showcase the traditional and local talent of Pakistan’s diverse regions, with an emphasis on the rich cultural heritage of the country’s working-class musicians. With their appearance on the Rivayat album, the Niazi Brothers have contributed to this unique and compelling initiative, further amplifying their musical legacy.
