Artist Profiles: Parafonè

The ethno-groove Calabrian band Parafonè has been in business since the mid-2000s. They are an effective example on how one finds inspiration in the rich local cultural heritage to innovate and put forward the musical traditions.

Parafonè are based in the cradle of Tarantella. The wealth of local traditional instruments fits perfectly in a bed of bass, drums, and guitars. Parafonè is known as a feel-good and festival act.

The lineup includes Bruno Tassone on vocals, traditional instruments; Angelo Pisani on wind and traditional instruments; Antonio La Rosa on drums, percussion; Domenico Tino on guitars, saz, bouzouki; Omar Remi on bass; and  Antonio Codispoti on accordion.

The group won several awards: Tenco Music Awards (2016) and Parodi Music Awards (2016).
