Tony Rosa’s Afrojazz - ‘Bout Time

Detailed and Tasteful Conga Drumming from Tony Rosa

Tony Rosa’s Afrojazz – ‘Bout Time (2022)

‘Bout Time from two time Grammy Award-winning drummer Tony Rosa is a spectacular must have Afro-roots and jazz album for your collection. Tony Rosa’s skill on the conga is above and beyond, and some of his quinto (smallest conga drum) licks are left to your imagination.

The tune ‘Mambo Mongo’ is a great version of Mongo Santamaria’s recording, with fresh new sounds and extremely tasteful thanks to Tony’s preciseness.

Tony Rosa is a New York-based master conguero and batá drum player based in New York City. He is one of the very few drum apprentices of legendary master conguero Francisco Aguabella. Tony performed in one of three Afro-Cuban folkloric groups that Francisco Aguabella had in California while he was alive.

Tony Rosa, you are definitely headed for another Grammy.
