Artist Profiles: Kaveh Mahmudiyan

Kaveh Mahmudiyan was born in 1983 in Mahabad, Iran. He moved to Norway with his family in 1977.

At the age of 13, Kaveh started playing tombak and learning music from Farhad Bazargan, Pejman Hadadai and Pedram Khavarzamini.

Currently, Kaveh composes solo and duet pieces for tombak. He has collaborated with internationally acclaimed Iranian musicians such as Dariush Talai, Hamid Motebassem, Pedram Khavarzamini and Javid Afsari Rad, and the famous Norwegian jazz musicians Bugge Wesseltoft and Trygve Seim.

Raised in Norway, Kaveh enjoys mixing elements of Western and Iranian cultures in his musical creations.

He has released the albums “Chakavak” with Dariush Talai, “Gofto-Goo” with Hamid Motebassem, and “Advar” with Pedram Khavarzamini.
