Various Artists – América Invertida (Vampisoul, 2019)

América Invertida (inverted America) features various artists performing acoustic music, meaningful songwriting, electronic soundscapes,, and delicate rhythms that reflect the musical scene of Uruguay in the 1980s.

During that decade, a trailblazing sound grew within Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo, developed by a small group of talented artists. These musicians played a wide range of styles including mesmerizing, dreamy folk music; breezy jazz fusion; Afro-Uruguayan candombe beats; and electronics.

“América Invertida” includes songs and instrumentals reissued for the first time along with extensive liner notes and previously unseen photos.

Artist featured include Contraviento; Jaime Roos y Estela Magnone; Eduardo Darnauchans; Duardo Mateo; Travesia; Mariana Ingold; La Escuelita; Hugo Jasa; Leo Mesiah y Jorge Cumbo; and Fernando Cabrera.
