Smetonos ūsai Unveils Trunksmas

Lithuanian band Smetonos ūsai (Smetona’s Mustaches) has released its debut album titled Trunksmas (the Rumble) on the Edita Gumauskaitė label. The trio performs dance tunes from the last century: polkas, waltzes, foxtrots and figure dances.

Smetonos ūsai uses violin, Petersburg’s accordion and an orchestra drum with a cymbal and a triangle, which was made by the musician himself.

“Trunksmas” (the Rumble) features music from elder highland musicians (Valentas Trainys, Albertas Paškevičius, Stasys Berniūnas, Algimatas Mieliauskas etc.). In the old days, “trunksmas” was the name for a strong drink.

Band mebers inclkude Edita Gumasuakitė on violin; Martynas Vingrys on Petersburg accordion; and Artiom Opperman orchestral drum, hand drum.
