Artist Profiles: Sopa de Pedra

Sopa de Pedra is a Portuguese a cappella ensemble based in Porto that performs traditional Portuguese folk music with creative new arrangements. The ensemble uses complex, challenging and intertwined vocal arrangements, sometimes accompanied by percussion.

Members include Benedita Vasquez, Inês Campos, Inês Loubet, Inês Melo, Maria Vasquez Mariana Gil, Rita Costa, Rita Sá, Sara Yasmine, and Teresa Campos.

In addition, Angel is the co-founder of the Transglobal World Music Chart, a panel of world music DJs and writers that celebrates global sounds. Furthermore, he delved into the record business, producing world music studio albums and compilations. His works have appeared on Alula Records, Ellipsis Arts, Indígena Records and Music of the World.
