Exquisite Latin Jazz Boleros from Trumpeter John Daversa

John Daversa – Cuarentena: With Family at Home (Tiger Turn, 2020)

Cuarentena (quarantine in Spanish) is a delightful instrumental album from American trumpeter and educator John Daversa. Miami-based Daversa and an ensemble of top Latin Jazz musicians deliver a beautiful set of intimate musical pieces where Latin Jazz is masterfully infused with the expressive bolero.

On Cuarentena, John Daversa celebrates musical families, brought closer together during the pandemic. Throughout the album, Daversa treats the listener to exquisite, smoky trumpet solos and remarkable interplay with the piano, bass and percussion.

The band includes some of the biggest names in the Latin Jazz scene: Gonzalo Rubalcaba (Cuba) on piano), Carlo de Rosa (USA) on bass; Dafnis Prieto (Cuba) on drums; and Sammy Figueroa (USA) on percussion.
