Cristina Pato, Davide Salvado, Anxo Pintos, Roberto Comesaña, four of the best known musicians from Galicia (Spain), have a new album titled Rústica. The album will be available on February 10, 2015 on the Fol Musica.
Rústica is the result of chance encounters, synchronicities, affinities and discoveries. It’s a mix of tradition and a contemporary vision of Galician music. The instruments featured include gaitas (bagpipes), accordion, zanfona (hurdy-gurdy), tambourines and vocals.

This sounds absolutely inspirational, These are some of my favourite Galician musicians and bringing them all together like this is a brilliant idea. There is always a danger in these collaborations, however, that the result can end up being less than the sum of its parts. But from what I can hear this certainly does not seem to be the case. I can’t wait to hear the finished result. As far as I know Fol still don’t distribute in the UK so I am keen to find out exactly where and how we are to get hold of this.
