Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan
Dreamz (Music Today, 2011)
Dreams are manifestations of our imagination, of our deepest desires and secrets. Taking the natural into the surreal is the aim of this exploratory lounge album, featuring sarod maestros Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan.
Showcasing the sound of the sarod against an electronica backdrop, the album has six tracks. All of them are pleasing and imaginative, and our picks include the opening tracks Yellow Skies and Purple Fields. The album closes off in fine style with the uplifting Silver Ocean. The sons of the great sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan are certainly exploring new turf in this album.
