Rocky Dawuni has had a very busy year having just come off a series of shows in Africa, Cambodia and the United States. He was invited by the Red Cross of Kenya to play alongside top Kenyan stars for the Chagua Peace Concert in Nairobi that was an integral part of Kenya’s efforts to maintain peace during their recent election. He then headed over to Ghana for the Ghana Music Week, which included a massive show at the Accra Sports Stadium and culminated with the Ghana Music Honors at the National Theatre in Accra where he performed for the Minister of Tourism amongst other dignitaries.
Rocky was also honored with the “International Artist Award” by the Musicians Union of Ghana in recognition of his role as the Ghanaian who is doing the most to project music outside of Ghana at the event.
As an Ambassador for the UN Foundations Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, Rocky was invited to their Global Forum, which took place in Cambodia in March where he addressed and sang for dignitaries from around the world. After that, Rocky headed to the United States where he joined R &B Star, John Legend for a high profile celebrity fundraiser in Beverly Hills in early April for Women’s Campaign International which garnered rave reviews.
Rocky’s upcoming new album, “Afro Roots,” fully captures his unique fusion of Afro Beat and Reggae while confirming him as an artist in the tradition of both Fela Kuti and Bob Marley in utilizing his music to uplift, unify and inspire.
Rocky will also be back in Europe in July for a summer tour performing at the massive Summerjam, Montreux Jazz and WeedbeatFestivals alongside luminaries such as Snoop (Dogg) Lion, Gentleman & more.
