The flamenco series Flamencad will return to Cádiz on July 9 with support from the Provincial Council of Cádiz, presenting four nights of performances at the Baluarte de la Candelaria. The 2026 edition also marks the festival’s fifth year with institutional backing from both the Provincial Council and Cádiz City Council.
The program was unveiled at the Provincial Palace by Deputy and Provincial Culture Foundation Vice President Vanesa Beltrán, alongside Flamencad promoter and co-director Curro Velázquez-Gaztelu, singers Esmeralda Rancapino and Antonio Gómez ‘El Turry’, and presenter Valeria Reyes.
Beltrán highlighted the festival’s commitment to bringing together established and emerging artists while balancing traditional and contemporary flamenco. She also emphasized the inclusion of a dedicated space for female flamenco artists within the program and reaffirmed the Provincial Council’s support for an art form she described as part of the region’s cultural heritage.
The opening night on July 9 will feature legendary guitarist Tomatito. The Almería-born musician, widely known for his long-standing collaboration with Camarón de la Isla, will perform alongside singers Morenito de Íllora and Kiki Cortiñas, guitarist José del Tomate, and percussionist Joni Cortés.
Next, the July 16 program, titled La Madurez del Cante de Estirpes Flamencas, will spotlight two artists from Cádiz province: Jesús Méndez and Alonso Núñez ‘Rancapino Chico’. Both performers represent prominent flamenco family lineages and bring extensive experience to the stage.
The July 30 event will focus on dance through the production Love Flamenco. The show will feature performers including El Turry, Ezequiel Montoya, Marcos de Silva, Juan José Villar, Juan Fernández, Vero La India, Fuensanta Blanco, and Cheyenne. The production pays tribute to traditional flamenco roots while presenting them through a contemporary stage format.
Finally, the series will conclude on August 13 with Mujer: Juventud y Flamencas, a program dedicated to female artists and presented by Valeria Reyes. Singers Reyes Carrasco and Esmeralda Rancapino will headline the closing night. During the presentation, Reyes stressed the importance of initiatives that increase the visibility and recognition of women within flamenco history.
All four events will take place on Thursdays and will begin at 10:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Velázquez-Gaztelu underscored the importance of public support for the festival, noting that the Provincial Council was the first institution to back the project and remains central to its development.
