Songs Of Stolen Children Tops World Music Charts Europe in April 2026

Songs Of Stolen Children by Daughters of Donbas has reached No. 1 on the World Music Charts Europe for April 2026. The ensemble features Ukrainian-Canadian singer Marichka, an Amnesty International Award recipient, activist, war journalist, and volunteer combat medic. She travels regularly between Canada and Ukraine as part of the project, which is dedicated to the roughly 20,000 Ukrainian children taken from occupied areas of Donbas to Russia.

The album presents a contemporary acoustic program that includes original compositions and reworked folk songs. It is influenced by indie pop and Ukrainian folk vocal traditions. Some songs reflect archaic musical forms, while others rely only on voice and silence. Elsewhere, a string quartet, bandura, piano, and ensemble vocals characterize the ensemble’s sound.
